24 Redemption

24: Redemption is a television movie, which develops what happened between the sixth and the seventh seasons of the television series 24. It takes place on January 20, approximately three years after the events of the season 6. The movie takes place in the fictional African nation of Sangala. The movie was actually shot in Cape Town, South Africa. Jack Bauer is caught up in a military rebellion while searching a place where he could be in peace. Meanwhile, in the US, the elected president Allison Taylor is taking her oath. The film takes place in real time, lasting two hours, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
The film was released on November 23, 2008 in the USA and the extended version DVD was released two days later. It was issued on November 24, 2008 on Sky1 in the UK, on December 5 on Seven Network in Australia and on November 30 on Fox, in Latin America. In the extended version, the 24 clock that appeared on the commercials was removed, but remained at the beginning and the end.
The story is situated on the opening day for the new American President, Allison Taylor, and was filmed partially in South Africa. Jack has his soul very disturbed and he has been moving from one place to another seeking peace. However, he ends up in Africa in the middle of a military rebellion. At the same time, Bauer is cited to appear before a hearing of the Senate while he is in Africa. But he doesn't want to go, since he wants to get away from everything that has to do with his past life.
I believe that this technique used by the directors of 24 is very useful in order for the audience to catch up what is going on. Sometimes between seasons one tends to forget certain details about the plot, especially after a writer's strike. Making a movie really helped connect these two seasons which are very linked between them.
